A British Policeman and his MP5
Posted By: paulyrichard, 05-15-2009, 10:36 AM

I was around parliament today (16/05/09) in Westminster London, and I decided to ask a policeman at one of the gates if I could take a photograph of his gun.
He was very nice guy and said yes, of course. Well, I couldn't believe it!

I got down on one knee and took this shot of his MP5.

I'm not saying that the framing is bad by any means, but I just think that with an obliging subject, there's probably a chance to be creative and do something a different, try a few different angles, etc, instead of the normal front on approach.

Yeah, I agree with what your sayin'. I could've done I suppose. Thinkin' back though maybe a wide-angle shot lookin' up from below would have looked nice.

At first I only intended this as a 'fun' shot, but now I look at it more, I really like it as a document.

Thanks.

Incidently, it's good to see that he's using both safety mechanisms (finger and safety catch).

Times have changed. It wasn't long ago a British copper would be armed with a billy, a whistle and a note pad. I am surprised he was so accommodating. I would have expected him to tell you to 'sod off'.

Thankfully you were the one doing the shooting.

Nice shot.

Those coppers wouldn't have a chance in hell against the criminals here with those peashooters!

Typical arsenal of the average Hijacker = 9mm CZ/Beretta, Semi Auto Assault, R4's, R5's and the very available fav the AK47- oh yes throw in a hand grenade or two as well and with a Cash in Transit Heist the above with some C4 added to the mix;-)
