Went to a minor soccer game ......
Posted By: Heinrich Lohmann, 05-15-2009, 05:55 PM

...last night with the 55-300 on the K20D. No earth shattering soccer shots but I was really pleasantly surprised how well the combo worked. I used AFC and centre focus and as long as I kept the dot on the target focus was no problem at all. But man was it cold, 5 C with a mean wind, the kids coped a lot better than me.

The first and last shot is of our grandson.

Wow, Heinrich, these shots have a compelling 3-D effect - I've not seen many quite like this.

I can't believe 5 C today - it hit almost 90F here today. I rode my bike about 10 miles this morning (starting at 8:30 AM) and was dripping with sweat when I got home.

But I digress . . . . great captures!

Very arresting images. Great expressions. I love the OOF quality of the backgrounds and how it makes the boys stand out.

Take care,

Hi Jeff and thank you. I just got this lens a few weeks ago and it turns out to be way better than what I had expected for the money. Last night at the game the light was sort of weird, very low sun, clear air and very windy but it made for reasonable pictures.

Take care,

Nice set Heinrich, I just got the 55-300 myself last week and I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of the images it produces.

Thank you Gary, IMHO it's a lot better than the 50-200 which is a pretty good lens as well.
