A few Images with the kit lens...
Posted By: HogRider, 04-20-2007, 08:25 PM

Once in a while I just put the kit lens on my DL and I am always pleasantly surprised about the sharpness of such a cheap lens. The little bit of vignetting at 18mm is so easily fixed in PP. The kit lens together with the DL/DS is such a small light weight combo. Even after owning the K10D for a while it feels good to return to the basics :-)

Couple of pictures from a ride I took 2 weeks ago:

Cholla Flower

Desertscape HDR (handheld from 3)

Charger 500

Louvers

Candy Apple Red

The desertscape HDR one stands out the most for me. Talk about 3D!

And yet another proof that lens doesn't take good pictures, photographer does. I very much fancy that orange hood pic and also love the angle of the last shot. Keep them coming.

I like louvers, nice composition, colours and good exposure.

Excellent photos as usual HR, yeah, it's terrible that the kit lens is so lousy! Best bang for the buck lens in my bag, and it's always in my bag. My favs are the abstract louvers shot, the pink caddy, and the cholla blossom. The Charger 500 brings up fond memories of crusing for burgers on Sat nite.

Go Hogrider! Really all nice shots. Professional work. I liked the louvers and both desert shots.
That kit lens is amazing. The only reason (sadly) that it remains unused in my drawer is that I'm so in love with my Sigma 50mm 2.8 macro. I have gotten remarkable shots with the kit, which, surprising to me was excellent in low light!

Exceptional photos. I have not seen many HDR photos that I liked but this one really works. Thanks for posting.

those all rock... thanks as always for sharing! For some reason I like the orange one - is that some sort of air vents? (though the desert HDR is wicked too)

Great work! Says something about the guy behind the camera as opposed to all the technobabble about lenses.
I am very impressed with the desert HDR shot. Most of the pictures that I've seen using the technique are too overdone for me; yours is right on. Could you shrare your process/workflow with us?
Thanks.

Louvres and motorcycle - my faves. Great shots!

Funny how a lot of people mention that the vignetting of the kit lens can be corrected but I haven't found a thread that explains how.

Thank you. Yes they are some types of air vents, but mainly for decorative purposes than for practical reasons. I always thought those looked cool on Hotrods. Mainly the old school type 32 Fords. This picture shows the trunk lid on of a 32' Highboy.
