Tamron 70-300 summer hodge podge
Posted By: Igilligan, 05-17-2009, 01:41 PM

I know we dog this lens for the PF... and in the blue jay shot it is rampant... but boy it does take some sharp, colorful shots...

I know I have been MF lens crazy of late, but every once in a while you just want to stick on a AF lens and stick it in 'A' mode and fire away.

Not bad for a cheapy tele....

The Tammy 70-300 is the greatest lens ever...

You all are much too kind... Thanks for looking and for the support.

Mike, that little one is my youngest.... and I love taking shots of her when she will let me, and that is happening less often. Here sister has figured out if she just starts making faces I will stop shooting... so I have a lot fewer of the 7 year old.

Gary, I thought I had PM'd you back. I will do so now

This is the best lens to put on your K7d.... with it's lens specific pf/ca correction

Now go to the link in Mikes thread above and read the "Terrifying Tale of the Thing"

Great work Gus

Once again, demonstrating perfectly that it is the photographer, rather than the lens, that is so important in getting great images.

A good photographer with a cheap lens will almost always get better pics than an ordinary photographer with thousands of dollars worth of gear.

My other vice is fly fishing, and the same applies. A good angler with a cheap rod will outfish an ordinary angler with a $2000 Extra-Special rod, $500 reel, and the latest and greatest line and flies.

'Tis the operator, not the gear. Although to I do admit to being a gearhead... Go figure!

I know we are not supposed to have favorites... but

thanks for the kind words... she does look a bit more like her mother than like me

Pete, You are too nice.

Speaking of fishing... I spent all of my summers on the creek and the sloughs around Salem Oregon. I recently started to fish again after a long layoff... my goodness that is a pricey / hi tech world now. It is unbelieveable the prices for some of the gear. The days of my Zebco 2002 or Mitchell 300 are long gone.

As to the fly fishing... that is a great analogy to photography... watching an artist with the fly rod working a stream is like being in dream. I never really managed to pull it off as a boy. But I had an uncle who tied his own, and lived his life as a fly fisherman.

That is a very nice set Gus but I wouldn't give all the credit to the lens, some has to go to the trigger finger.

The days of my Zebco 2002 or Mitchell 300 are long gone. I still have all of my green all metal Zebcos in three different sizes, all in good working order.
