A Portrait of my father, which crop?

I like the composition of the original version (#1) but the OOF area above his head is very chaotic. Do you find it destracting, and if so, which of the other crops do you like? Feel free to suggest your own

I would take number 2. nice portrait with no distractions.

I like the 3rd one but the hand distracts the view away from the face. Maybe if it was just touching the chin rather than the mouth.

I think the hand adds alot of character to the photo actually.

I like the second one.. what if you cropped a little of the arm out so the bottom of the frame was the right hand side of the bottom of his hand? It would mess up your proportions if you were aiming for a specifc size but I think it would bring focus to his eyes.

I'm with Pentaxtic - I really think the hand hides too much of an interesting face.

No.1 gives you more options, as James suggests, and you could always blur out the background in PS or whatever you have.
