Foggy Avalanche (or Tidal Wave) 5 pics
Posted By: Damn Brit, 05-20-2009, 12:03 AM

The fog has been pretty spectacular lately, or I just hadn't noticed it so much before.

On this evening last week, it looked just like an avalanche (or tidal wave) in slow motion.
I used slightly different processing according to what I thought looked best for each individual shot.

As usual, bigger versions in the gallery look better;

Wow, Gary, this must've been quite a sight to behold! That fog wall is truly massive and magnificent! Great shots - thanks for sharing!
Thanks Lou, I did a double take when I first saw it.

great shots, Gary! I don't know what PP you did to bring out the texture of the fog, but it works!
Thanks Tim, it was mainly just levels and contrast.

Damn, Brit, nice shots!

Jim (sorry, just couldn't resist... Oh Lordy, I'm weak when it comes to resisting temptation!)
Thanks Jim, I appreciate the play on words, couldn't have done better myself.

Hahaha, the first picture had me thinking it was a wave. Then I thought, what the.. this can't be real, nice PP! And then I finally figured out it was just fog. Cool set.
Thanks Kevin. Well, it was a wave, of sorts.

If I woke up and saw that in the morning, I may think its the end of the world, like in Independence Day.
I think my favourite aspect of the Bay Area is the fog Jay. I love it when the city disappears, I'm a country boy at heart.

Thanks Jeff, we could always do a house swap for vacations. You come here for the fog, I go down there for the corruption of decay in the swamps.

Seriously though, if you're ever in the Bay area, you'll be most welcome to visit.

having lived a couple years in Daly City (which is under the fog ALL the time), i saw lots of fog from the inside looking out, haha. it's real alright.

In Daly City we'd be in darkness and freezing and half a mile away everyone else was sunny and warm. Then we got smart and bought our first home over on the sunny side, in Brisbane. That was great.
