Spring! Post your Motorcycle shots here!
Posted By: slip, 04-21-2007, 06:24 PM

This is my pride and joy.... had it since I was 20, bought brand new.
It is a 1983 Honda CX650ED. This bike was only imported into Canada and Europe, never United States. It is great to have something this rare...
I just put it on the road after 15 years of being in a shed....just put a set of Mezler's (spelling?) on it and it rides great!
you could say it is my new Lens

thanks

cheers

Randy – Nice scoot!

This would be the last custom metric I built. It started out as mine and my wife’s 1999 Yamaha Royal Star. We made a few decent trips on her, but then the wife got over it. So, not being happy with anything I get in stock trim, and at that time building custom metric bikes on the side, I chopped her. Down to the frame, special made brackets, fenders, fiberglass pieces that my father and I did. Used a few Harley parts modified to fit and work flawlessly. Had 18” RC Components Billet “Sheriff” wheels. The back tire was a 180/55-18 and had to be mounted in the bike in three pieces. The wheel that is. There was literally about 2 business cards thickness between the tire and shaft which was also removed and V-max gearing installed. I custom designed the seat and Corbin used my drawing to make it. Made the lowering kit for it as well and she was adjusted to almost have no shock effect in the rear. Almost like riding a ridged!

She was aptly titled, “The Apocalypse”.

But, new house needed, new truck needed, and our first BABY BOY was definitely needed, so she had to go! Maybe another one in the future? Who knows………….

Please excuse the less quality shots. I did the best I could in PSE5 with some old 2.1m shots!!

Sorry so long……………

that Bike rocks!
wow, what a great job you did on it! Did you paint it as well?
That back tire sounds huge compared to the 120 90 18 I just ordered for the back.
BTW, there isn't anything wrong with those shots.... I really love the greens around your bike as everything is just begining to grow up here.

thanks for posting it,

cheers

Thanks Randy. I had a guy that "worked it in" at the paint and body shop he worked at. Well, the weekend before we were heading to Surfside Beach, SC for a week, and I had my heart on riding her, he hadn't started. So, we did end up painting her ourselves. I've got other people that let me use their paint booth and I paid for the materials. Learned alot working on her 'til 3AM, each day.

Also, before anyone asks, as I normally get asked, the Royal Star is a 1300cc V-4. 4 carbs with K&N's, 1500cc Big Bore Kit, and 4 Bub Pipes sticking out. Looked mean!!!!

Here's a shot of the tire and pipes.

Goodlooking shot of your cool Sportster there Tom!

Very nice bikes guys, very nice. A lot of Sunday morning polishing there.

I won't ask you to join me on a ride though , you might find the going a little tough

Shots not taken with Pentax, I generally carry my little Casio.

Nothing beats getting out on the bike...and this reminds me its been awhile since I have done it....and its my week off!!! Yee Ha!! guess what I'm doing
Cheers
Grant

Cx 500

My old CX 500 - I was about 20 at the time too. It served me well. Taken on slide film with my old spottie, I guess.

Another one of my old Aprilia Pegaso 650 single. It was an absolute joy to ride one-up, but struggled a bit in the power & comfort department with two-up.
the first shot was a great ride, two days over roads/tracks like this. The other one is my wife taking a break, this one was published in a magazine.
Again apologies, both Casio.
