Ha! great one Mike, I didn't know what to expect when I saw the title, but it certainly wasn't this.

Absolutely. It's horrible.

It makes an otherwise pretty good macro shot a total piece of crap. Using it to make a lame joke was the only way to squeeze any redeeming value out of it at all.

how

I see it first thing now and it really annoys. I have heard people say that it is easy to manipulate out but have not read any details of how to go about that.

The main reason I took it was that I was experimenting with version 2 of my McGyver macro lighting rig.

It consists of a rectangle of very thin cardboard, placed horizontally and with two strips cut and bent to make a pair of "arms" poking out from near the middle, at the width of my Sigma flash. Those arms are then stapled to a band of the same thin cardboard which has been cut and stapled to snugly fit around the head of the flash. The thing was finished off by wrapping it with the aluminum foil from my breakfast sammiches. I use it by turning the flash head around backwards, angling it up to about 75 degrees, and bouncing/diffusing the flash off the aluminum foil and downward in the general direction of the end of the lens.

As far as the lighting experiment goes, I think it was a considerable success. But, as pointed out, the purple fringe ruined it.
