A few recents I'm proud of...
Posted By: MrEspie, 05-21-2009, 07:18 PM

I would love to hear what people have to say about these - critiques are especially welcome. If, for any reason, you should happen to want to see more (I can dream, right?), I've gotten around to setting up a flickr account here. I'd certainly like to see everyone else's photostreams and perhaps gain a few contacts.

#1 I really like the contrast between the white flower and the darkish rest of the picture.
#2 Great idea, horizon's a bit off to the right though.
#3 Great PP.
#4 Doesn't really excite me that much.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, guys. Kevin, is there anything in particular in #4 missing that might excite you more?

I like your shots! You could try some B&W in the last one, it could benefit a lot from it IMO. And don't forget to push the contrast in that case, in order to get real whites and real blacks in your pic.

I like the first image, 'cos it has a nice texture to it, especially on the petals. I think it'd look better cropped 1:1 though.

Something to break the dominance of the horizontal lines, such as girls in bikini's.

I like #2 the best. It evokes other senses: I can almost feel a cool breeze sweeping in from off the water. I like photos that engage more than sight.

Somehow I was almost expecting this very answer. Sadly, the population in the area of this photo is better left to one-pieces (or better yet, not swimming at all) - this is a retirem... sorry... "lifestyle" community. :P I'll keep trying though.

Thanks again to everyone for your comments. I'm glad everyone likes #2 - I've been having so much fun with my 18-55 II + polarizer lately.

Good series - I'm particularly taken with number 3.
