Yosemite National Park
Posted By: SailorsKid, 05-23-2009, 06:14 AM

I recently returned from an amazing weekend camping in Yosemite National Park for a lab retreat. There are so many beautiful things to see there that it's difficult to take a unique picture. I think I took about 350, and 7 of them are good. Here are some of my favorites!

Also, I have to note that the "empty road" shot used to have several cars, but I like the photo much better with the cars removed with the help of photoshop (I didn't want to make my boyfriend wait on the side of the road until the traffic flow ended).

I like #3 the best, but then I am a sucker for wild hidden little streams.

It looks like you've been standin' in the same areas as Ansel Adams once did, with these images.

Yosemite

Thanks for the comments! Speaking of Ansel Adams, if you look at a park map of Yosemite, there is actually a region entitled "Ansel Adams Wilderness", which made me smile.

Very nice images, that's one place that we have not visited yet, maybe next year. Thanks for posting this series.

The last photo is very majestic.

What is the quality of light like in the early evenin', and is it practical to be there at this time?

Half Dome at Sunset

The quality of light is pretty good in early evening. I'm attaching an additional picture that I took just before sunset of Half Dome. You can definitely be there at that time, especially if you are camping, which was what we were doing. But, you have to reserve the campsites about 6 months in advance, so you have to plan ahead. :-)

Great series - I love it there, and as luck would have it, I live right nearby ... I can geotag all those photos for you. Aside the small stream, I know exactly where each of those photos was taken from - for instance, the dry grasses on the plateau were taken just east of Knights Ferry on route 120 (here's the google street view of where you took that shot - they didn't compose their shot as nicely as you did though )

Love the conversion and selective color of the Bridal Veil falls shot (#1). I've got to get up there this next week before my work starts in earnest..
