of these two, I prefer the color as the couple stand out from the background a little better, that being said, a different B&W conversion might be nice. I find that the one here has lots of dark grey tones blending in together in the foreground. Are the two parents in the picture friends or relatives of yours?

Perhaps a mix is best: grey the background crowd, keep de subjects in color.
It takes somewhat more work, but I guess is best.

Colour for sure for me.
There's more 'life' in the colour shot and not enough contrast in the B&W for me to choose otherwise.

I never use anything at the level of post production in CS3 that significantly change the original photo.
Until now I only used curves, sharpening etc, the “regular stuff”.
In this case, I like to see the effect of them standing out from the background but, on the other end it seems fake, like a bad commercial poster.

It is just me not used to do so much on CS3 or it’s really bad as I think it’s?

They are friends and I got this image "in a snap" trying to capture the moment and make a good picture for them. I was not expecting to see them on this "natural street pose".

Interesting idea. Will try at night after work.

Now I know why people on CS3 save on psd .... (I didn't this means I will have to start again from the raw file )

I really appreciate all your C&C.

Thanks

Done during lunch time. Added on the original post.
What do you think ?
Seems that's not perfect I only know how to use the "quick selection tool"

The mixed PP looks as if the couple and the background are 2 different images stitched together.

I prefer the BW version, but the highlights could be more pronounced, the white to light-grey area is now unused.

I hate selective desaturation.

How about this??
This was quick & dirty done, there must be more colour to the faces, but that would take more time and effort. This is just for a first impression.

I have limited knowledge on CS3 since only recently I got to work on it and of course I have a long road go to on learning.

For know, I think the best choice due to my current limitations will have to be to improve the b&w or the color one.

I will submit again soon other images so I can have more C&C and be educated.

Thanks
