B&W + 50mm challenge
Posted By: MightyMike, 05-26-2009, 09:03 PM

A couple of weekends back my photography group went to the Electric Train Museum (real trains not models)... in this event we decided to challenge ourselves to stick with the old standard 50mm focal length and process out photos in B&W... I used my FA35mm F2.0, the challenge wasn't so strict so some members used a 28 or 30mm lens and our micro 4/3rds member used a Vivitar 28mm F2.5 M42 lens i sold him as he has the m42 adapter.

needless to say shooting at one focal length means zooming with your feet and being creative, not to mention that not all photos look great in B&W.

there are 30 photos in my gallery, please check it out... feel free to pick and post a favourite

These look good to me. I'm thinking of doing something similar. I'm going to Berlin for a few days soon, and plan on only bringing one prime, just for fun.

Thanks kevin and Stratman, Kevin i think you should go for it but my thoughts are also i don't like missing a shot opportunity so i only do it if the location is unimportant or if i've been there before

Well done, especially the first two. The BW treatment seems to really bring out the highlights where present.

Its a good idea for a days shoot, the FA35 is a great lens, I had one myself, sold it for the 31 but they are very close in performance.

I like the second one the best and the fourth one the least, that being cause of the harshness of the light, I think the shots in shade or indoor look better in the BW treatment here because of the softer light
