Drosera aka Sundew
Posted By: Nitrok, 05-28-2009, 06:21 AM

If someone doesn't know this is a carnivorous plant that lures and captures insects using those stalked mucilaginous glands covering its leaf surface (which closes as soon as insect gets stuck).

Very cool shot, almost got kindof an abstract vibe, very interesting to look at and the drops on the ends of the flowers stalks look very 3D. Like it a lot

It's pure pleasure to look at it. Delicate balance among bokeh, flower 1, flower 2 (and their planes). Simply superb. May I ask: what lens? (Must be either the Sigma or the 50mm 1.4.)

Oooh! One of my favourite little plants. About how tall is the stalk? A cm or two? It looks a little different from what we have around here. Absolutely gorgeous photo, you nailed the focus. Tripod, or no? I dislike lugging a tripod around with the result that I have a lot of photos of little things like this with the focus just a teensy bit off, because I always sway a little! Lovely, thanks for posting it.

very nice indeed. the only problem i see is the out of focus parts on the bottom left, which seem a bit distracting. otherwise, excellent.

Thanks Julie!
Yes the stalk is about two cm tall. I photographed this with tripod - very useful when the dof is so shallow.

I can't quibble too much, the shot is very good considering how hard it is to get anything as good as this.
