Light Air Abstract in B&W
Posted By: Sailor, 05-30-2009, 01:35 PM

Here's a B&W conversion of a shot "up the mast" taken as we sailed in light winds (what sailors often refer to as "light air"). Another shot with my new DA 15, I'm afraid.

This is my first B&W conversion with my laptop (I'm "working" from the boat), and I'm a bit unsure of the monitor. I'll look at it at home tomorrow and see if I want to make changes.

I think this image hearks back to the classic B&W marine photographers - the tones are right where I like them, the composition is spot on... excellent!

Thanks for the link - it reminds me to pull out some of books with B&W prints that I haven't looked at in years. It also reminds me of Mystic Seaport; I haven't been there since the mid '90's, but you can imagine that I love the place.
