Fast action shot...
Posted By: sawtooth235, 06-02-2009, 08:40 AM

I took this while standing on the beach in Juno, FL. This young surfer was cutting back up on the lip of this 7-8 foot wave and the spray was going everywhere. Unfortunately, the spray obscures his face.

nice capture.... maybe a tighter crop( inclusive of the top spray)
might bring a little more focus on the subject...

Ray - like others commented, the colors are terrific. I wish Galveston Bay looked like that - instead of brown.

Good job, man.

Thank you for your suggestion, I am always struggling with composition so any suggestions in that area are appreciated. I tried a tighter crop and thought that this one including more of the wave had more impact.

Thank you for your comment, I agree that the water in South Florida is a wonderful blue-green color.

Suresh,

I was using a Sigma 100mm-300mm f4.5 UC zoom lens at 300mm hand-held while standing on the beach.

Jer,

Up where I live near Jacksonville the water is similar in color to what you have in Galveston, kinda a brownish green. South Florida and the Carribean have the most beautiful water.

Indeed they do, Ray. I love the Carribbean; believe or not, Northern Lake Huron also as breathtakingly beautiful water in places.

Jer,

Yes I know. I honeymooned in Northern Michigan all along the coast in places like Mackinac, Cheboygan, Munising, Copper Harbor, and Petosky. Up in Copper Harbor the water really is a brownish color.
