Finally a little to show for it.
Posted By: Peter Zack, 06-02-2009, 10:46 AM

A publisher found my web site while looking for images of PEI and contacted me a month ago. Asked what I had to offer for a Canada wide calendar they are producing to be released this fall. So I sent them images from NB and PEI. They needed shots from both provinces. I was surprised which ones they chose but happy to finally have a couple shots published.

It will be several months before I see the finished project but they have confirmed that these 2 will be the ones on the 2010 calendar. They were after-thought additions and I would have suggested others but what do I know??

The submissions are here:

Also there was a juried exhibit here in Charlottetown in May and of 8 categories (one submission per), I took one 1st place (Sand Patterns at Sunrise) one 2nd place (Shipwreck) and two 3rd (Pencils and Black Stairs) place shots. It's been a good month.

Way to go Peter ! I guess they wanted something that the masses could identify with PEI / NB - congratulations on a well deserved honour.

Congratulations. It is interesting what publishers choose when they want your photos. It is never what you think are the better images. Stock agencies really like open areas in an image so they can insert writing when they are used in ads.

JMR, Well both those shots have empty space for sure and I wonder if there will be much printed on top. I guess we'll see.

I think so Dave, I submitted several others (not in the slideshow) and they liked them but seemed to be more interested in simple classic shots.

Yea! Cheers to you...

I feel it might be worthy of a long discussion just what you have brought up in your experience...

There is no telling what people will choose. SO many times the ones I add in on a lark (which means there was 'something' about them but...) are the crowd pleasers.

The numbers on my site...
the ooszanahha while showing a slideshow...
the ones someone comments about or brings back to memory...

So many times I just would never have thought those in particular.

Wonder that is about...

This is a surprise to me, because looking at your past posts I assumed you already were published. You do great work--best of luck as you climb to even higher levels.
