Oh my! fabuloso! I especially love the last one. Did you ever get your banding problem solved? It certainly looks so from these gems.

NaCl(I'd be REAL jealous, but luckily we don't have humming birds here, so I only moderately jealous (just) )H2O

Thanks. No I didn't get the problem solved. Those are the pics where there was hardly any of those lines and what was visible I was able to remove with Noise removal software.

The camera is on it's way to Pentax Service right now.

No Humming birds in Bronx NY

Your a poor poor man Salty
Although there aren't that many where I live, at least they're here

Now if only I can get some pic's of them in flight I'd be happy.

Salty,

There is hope you will see them. I have seen hummingbirds in the Bronx and other parts of LI when I did a lot of birding back in my college days. The Ruby Throated Humminbird is the only species though. I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't find them at the Bronx Botanical Garden. They breed on our property every year but I have never attempted to photograph them.

A really wonderful job. Next stop for you, since you have the setup working, is a high speed flash to freeze the wings.

These are very pretty. I hope you can share with us the shutter speed, aperture and techniques you use in taking these shots. All are wonderful, I wish I know how to capture the beauty like you do in those shots -- amazing.

Thanks.

Here is the basic EXIF Data - it is the same on almost all the shots.
PENTAX K10D 340mm 1/180th F9.5 ISO200
I use manual focus, and camera in M Mode. I also used an older external flash (Kalimar).

Tasty shots! I like the motion of the wings, I don't see many at my house.
