My Friend and a Flicker
Posted By: VaughnA, 06-09-2009, 04:58 PM

My pup Baron, stuck in a cage for recovery from back surgery relaxing on the deck and yet more birds. A flicker and some purple finches. I'm seeing the limits on the sharpness of the kit 55-200 lens and want something a bit better in the future. Suggestions? I'm thinking of something like a 70-300. I tried a 1.7x teleconverter but didn't like the loss of sharpness and speed penalty.

Off hand I would say with the 2 shots with birds on feeders, the camera focused on the feeder and not on the birds. With these type of situations I have found manuak focus is the best answer, especikally with shallow doff. No exif info in your photo's to indicate ficak point. Ps. Those are red belly woodies rather than flickers. The 2 on the shepord's staff are male and female house finches. jim
