Do you think this is a girl's car?
Posted By: rayallen, 06-11-2009, 03:49 AM

I spotted this car in the employee parking section at our local shopping centre. I assume that it would have to be a girl's car. What do you think?

It is a Holden (GM's local subsidiary) Commodore. And that is NOT an original colour!

It seems you guys don't like pink, so I assume you won't like my magenta car.
Ok, ok, it's not my car (I don't even have one) and these are not the true colors

I noticed most of people hate pink in the US, I didn't understand why until I entered in a kid's clothes store: 80% of the girl's clothes were pink. No wonder you have a pink overdose after that.

It is true in the US pink is everywhere for girls clothes, toys, furniture, wall paint, Barbie cars...lol. One house we rented had one bedroom painted pink, pink walls and the ceiling too, old fashioned 50's era pink, So in order to get the pink out of my head here's some red. It actually is my vehicle. I did see in Austin, Texas a pink/magenta Dodge Challenger it was almost as terrible, the only thing it had going for it was that it was a classic Challenger.

If it's not... we have many words here in Scotland for this person, but none are suitable for being repeated here on this family forum.

Did not expect too see this almost 5 year old thread resurrected.

Latest news: Not sure what happened to this car nor its owner but I have not seen it in the carpark at the local mall for quite a long time. Would you believe that I have not missed it?

I bet half the people commenting here have either a black, white, or some form of beige coloured car...

The owner is unique and that's cool. Whether they're male/female is irrelevant.

Thankyou ))

Stereotypes are there for a reason. The problem is when people think that a stereotype is true in 100% of cases and don't bother to find out whether it's true about a particular person.

My guess from the "cool" rims, this is some badass chick who enjoys badass rims but wears her "feminine" side proudly with the pink. I think I have a 95% probability of being right.
100% right! Hehe!

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before, but pink used to be an exclusively male colour. My goodness, how things change...

All that aside, welcome to Pentax Forums!

I thought I would add two things:

1) Pink == Girl is a U.S. centric thing,, to some degree.

2) The idea that pink is for girls and blue is for boys has been true for a very short amount of history, and has debatable biological origins.

Further reading for the curious: The Straight Dope: Was pink originally the color for boys and blue for girls?
