Few from my trip to Edmonton this week
Posted By: Jimbo, 06-12-2009, 06:29 PM

Weather was not the greatest for landscape so I thought I would spend a day shooting some wildlife. The robin was not too happy I was around her nest shooting pictures of her babies so I didn't stay long. The hummer was not the best given the distance but there is always next time. Seen a mosse too. Will post it later. Cheers JIM

Jim, you have to do it: how about a crop of the reflection showing in the eye of the chick in image #2?? I like the sleeping chick on the left - it's quite a contrast from the main subject. Great raptor shot.

BTW, I see sharpening or compression artifacts in the images below the chicks (more noticeable in #4 -#5). Were they heavy crops or perhaps your hosting provider is at fault?

Good job Jim! Sorry to hear the weather wasn't cooperating.

Regards,
Marc

I will give it a try Marc. I believe its me in the reflection. The two are heavily cropped Mark. I was about 50 feet away. I need to get a longer lens soon. Appreciate the comments. I have a few more to work on. These are also shot at 800 ISO and at that distance, hand held, it becomes a bit difficult to get the shot dead on. Cheers JIM

Jim, I was simply thinking and putting those thoughts to the post. If I sounded direct in my question, my apologies. I meant only to ask about it, nothing more...

Sincerely,
Marc

Marc, you know better then that buddy! I continue to learn from you and its a pleasure to have you CC my images. I can use all the coaching and help I can get. I do need to look at a slightly longer lens though as I am really getting into wildlife shooting. So much to learn. Thank you. JIM

PS: I will crop the second and post later

Thanks Jim...

I looked at #2 again - it's indeed a fantastic close up! So will the outward curve of the eye distort you in a weird way??
