My Little Girl
Posted By: daacon, 06-14-2009, 07:07 AM

Is not so little anymore ....time just flies ......... the good news is we share the photography passion She took some portratits of me that I will probably not share here haha, you all have seen enough of my mug

My daughter and I are taking some photography lessons. We went out for a shoot the other day. I was playing with the flash (540) and a home made difusser. Manual settings, using selective focus. Here are some of my faviroties of the day.

Click on image for larger view

This one I processed in LR - warmed up temperature , added some blacks , and played with Clarity .. maybe too much pp but my daughter really likes it. I got some good tips in the critique section - some like it others think too much pp it works for me. It will be interesting to see how it comes out in print.

No PP on the rest of the shots RAW , converted to jpg in LR

Missed focus on this one - shooting manual and picking the focus spot each time forces you to stop and think before each shot - obviously did not think on this one dooooooooooh

I really like number 1 also. Number 4, that white wall behind her, drew my eyes to it rather than to her lovely face.

Very nice portraits, I really like them. Camera likes her too, it seems. A bit too much flash on nr.2 but I really like the rest. Good photographer and beautiful model = Damn nice photo set

Now I'm waiting for her photos of you, hehe. And I can't promise I will talk about a beautiful model then, maybe more about the technical aspects.

Kidding, ofc..

Hi Dave,
First and Last really work, but first is definitely the fav, really nice face/skin color and texture.
The others i think leave the skin too pale, but that is only MHO.
Beautiful Girl BTW
Cheers Neil
Thanks Neil - #1 is my favorite as well. The others are unprocessed I will play with those.

good thing she's got her mother's looks Dave. (ha ha)
Actually that 1st one is A-1. The rest could benefit from those warmer tones you put in the 1st. Love her hair and she's got gorgeous eyes.
Thanks Dan - it was tough as a young teenager for me as the boys showed interest early but she is almost 20 now so I am over that (almost )

Thanks photolady - I agree the white is distracting.

Thanks Zeno - as for the shots of me haha probably not I felt sorry for her having to use me a model. Next shoot I want her to bring one of her friends out. I did post some of me in the current POTW thread

Really like no. 1. For portrait shots, I prefer a slight soft focus effect than a pin sharp one. Well done Dave.

Cheers,
Conrad

All nice and the BEST part is spending time with your daughter doing something you both enjoy.

Thanks Niki I appreaciate the comments. She is not shy on either side of the camera , she was always into Theater Arts in Junior High and HS and was in several plays and musicals not a shy one at all which is a good thing.

She's a beautiful young woman Dave,
You did a splendid job photographing her as well.
I imagine that your a lucky man having her.
At least it looks like she's old enough to chase the boys away on her own now, giving you a chance to use the camera

I like the composition on them all. Well done.

Also good to see something bringing the family closer together and sharing interests.

Thnks Stu we are blessed indeed. Yeah she can handle herself without issue. Although I am still a resonable backup plan and always available for such duties
