Berlin

Last week I went on a trip to Berlin with my study society (not really a good word, but I don't know what else to call it). I study Sinology (Chinese Language and Culture) - which by the way explains the high frequency of asians in the pictures - and to make the trip relevant to what we study we visited the Sinology department of the Free University of Berlin. For the rest we just had a great time, visited the obligatory highlights, got drunk and did not sleep anywhere near enough.

Photographically it was also a very good experience. I only brought one lens - K 55mm 1.8 - and had to deal with it's drawbacks (no zoom, no autofocus, no AE). This taught me alot and I really feel I've become a better photographer since last week. Compared with the first trip I used this camera on - a 3 week trip to China and North-Korea when I just had this camera - I now have much more pictures I'm really satisfied with in only 3 days.

Anyway, the pictures:

yes!
These are inspirational... Thank you for sharing. It is something to only have one lens (and such a good one). Keeping my 55 on my body until I get this good with it!

Some nice photos in there. I particularly liked the set with the large cement blocks.

Yes the memorial is a great place to take pictures.

Great bunch of shots. The abstract ones are marvelous.

Thanks. Someone on these boards said I took semi-abstract pictures, I think it's a very accurate despcription of the kind of pictures I take.

Awesome series. My favorites are #10 and #21. Thanks for posting.
It's funny how different people always pick different pictures as their favourites. I wouldn't rate those as among the best at all

This lens has taught me so much about photography. It's a bit of a weird focal length on DSLR, and combined with it's other inflexibilities it really forces me to get creative.
