As far as risk, I have raised my kids and as the rest of the geezers in the forum can atest, whatever problems you face during the kid raising experience will likely be those you were NOT worried about or even aware of. If he wasn't playing soccer he might be getting in fights over whose Dad has the best camera.

Great to see a young buck attacking his sport with gusto.
He will do far less damage to himself in a controlled environment like club sport than just running around.
