Portraits from a Flickr group meeting
Posted By: attack11, 06-17-2009, 09:17 AM

My setup was my DA* 16-50 with hood, AF-540FGZ with a Gary Fong diffuser (white cap) at 0d/P-TTL for distance info on a Stroboframe VH2000 at the appropriate height for the battery grip (required a lock washer for gap on the plates/screw).

The camera was in Av mode/f2.8, ISO100, MWB @ 5000K, CW metering. This is my general mobile flash setup, aperture changing based on the scene; auto ISO for hard shoots like a wedding. The flash shows the throw distance this way, so it's really convenient.

It impressed and confused the canikons.

edit: had a typo on the flash angle.

Looks like a good fun meeting.

Big lenses mean very little in the world of photography. The weight is really a nuisance.

lol his 400mm is definitely good for the sports events he shoots (nascar, super bikes, etc). another canon user on facebook commented on a pic of my rig in use, saying he'd never seen someone use the diffuser that way in doors. i was surprised.

shot by a nikon user while i was taking the pic above... i definitely think the pttl + fong diffuser down is a killer combo.

Pentaxians will continue to amaze the Canikoners - and the gear setup even baffle them...
Good for you Jason!
