Macro with Spyder. My first attempt
Posted By: octavmandru, 06-19-2009, 03:21 AM

I am so inspired by Opo Terser's work. That guy is a god of macro.

There you go:
Bellows & Super Takumar 135 @f8

Feel free to make comments. I want to learn this.
Not great contrast subject-background, I know. Magnification around 5:1.

In fact, the guy was on the ceiling.

Very good capture.

I'm learning the fun of macro photography, too, with an FA-100 lens. I'm starting to really like shutter-priority and continuous shots when trying to get nice shots of bees etc. So far, 1/1000s seems a good compromise between speed and sensitivity.

If this doesn't turn into a discussion about technique pretty quickly, it's being moved to Post Your Photos.

Judging from the title, I thought this thread would contain a pic of a car...

In fact, I'm curious: what lens is best to use with a bellows. Opo is using a 28 mm reversed.
Any advice from macro veterans?

For lighting: I used a Metz 48. I'm missing a cable to extend it closer to the top of the lens. I used a flash "blender", to dim the strong shadows.

You know what, it might be a good idea for you to start again and take a picture of something that isn't on the ceiling and is in natural light.
Learn to walk before you can run, get the basics of macro first and then think about lighting etc.
