I like the shot. I Love negative space shots that work. Like the conversion which gives the image a great mood.

My only comment(easily fixed) is the shot is slightly crooked and I'd use the far left side of the house as the vertical straightening reference. Looks to be off by 1.25+/- degrees.

I love photographing old homes and barns and you hit the nail on the head I get to wondering who lived there and what happened that made a home like this vacant and decaying....Bob
