Optimism
Posted By: Sailor, 06-27-2009, 03:24 PM

A couple of days ago, I grabbed some shots of a fleet of Optimist prams being towed into Lakewood Yacht Club after a race on Galveston Bay. These little boats have been used to train young racing sailors for one design racing (in which all boats are identical) all over the world for many decades.

The backdrop to the fleet is the Boardwalk in Kemah, TX. You can see that the day was hazy, and it was crazy hot.

Cool shots Jer! That is such a neat procession...

I understand about the heat: I just came back from a solid road ride (just over an hour, 760 vertical feet of climbing) in the 99F weather here in AR today. Heat index was 106F!

Regards,
Marc

Really like the first one... The crazy mix of textures. B&W? Or a cross-process?

Thanks, Marc. In terms of temps, we're breaking records down here, and in Texas - that's saying something.

Nothing so sophisticated, I'm afraid. Actually, not much color in this shot on a remarkably hazy, hot day - the roller coaster is made of wood, which has weathered to a brown-gray. I did boost contrast considerably, which makes the image a bit unreal.

Anyway, glad you liked it.
