Faux HDR of the GenCoupe
Posted By: synnyster, 07-02-2009, 05:37 PM

Was out in the 100 degree heat today and snapped some shots of the car. I tried my hand at HDR, but not really. Instead of taking multiple exposures, I just did it in photoshop. I basically copied the RAW 4 times and increased and decreased exposure by .33 increments. Here is what I got. I'm not sure it really looks any better than just doing some tweaks on my own. I still haven't been able to get that surreal HDR look I've seen by other folks.

Like this you mean?

Try Dynamic Photo (free trial). I did this one up in literally 2 minutes.

i never would've guessed it took a whole 2 minutes.

You can do exactly the same thing for free with The GIMP. It's a bit noisy?

Yeah, I had it set on ISO400 and I always forget to check that. I also had a filter on top and all the pics came out a bit too dark. I wasn't exactly thinking any of it through . I've used Gimp before but it always crashed for me. I might try one of the trial software.

Nice shots of a nice looking car...I currently own the previous Hyundai Coupe over here in the UK - not sure if this new one will make it over the pond though, petrol costs killed off the last V6 ?

I think Hyundai Coupe in the states is called the Tiburon. The Genesis Coupe is not the next iteration of the Coupe/Tiburon. The Genesis is a bigger more upscale line. There is a new Tiburon in the works though. Not sure if the Genesis Coupe will hit the UK market either.

The new Genesis sedan is a great looking upmarket car as well. Very plush for a Hyundai.
