I see what you mean. If you cropped out the foreground, it would just be a misty valley, without the painted look.

The restio.sp in the foreground, plus the drained waterway with the fluro yellow growth are just OOF?

Where did you take that shot? I've not seen restio like that for some time.

It works very well, nice shot. Looks like a little wind on some of the grass

Hi Dale,

It was taken from the side of the road, through the open passenger side window while on a trip through tasmania.
I would love to know how to reproduce it. Oh and it was with the K10D and DA*16-50.

Neil, I like it, maybe it was the movement of the car then? Like a slight panning effect?

Very nice. I would suggest the tapestry of soft colours is inherent to the grasses. If your car was on, the vibrations coupled with your own vibration would be transmitted to the camera and that might produce a soft washed effect. However, I think it is more more important to specify the atmospheric conditions and the type of light that was present at the time- what were they? It looks like atmospheric or heat haze to me.

Hi Gawan, JMR,
The car wasnt moving nor was i panning or the like, just stopped.
The atmosphere and grasses were nothing special that i can recall, i took two photos from the same place at the same both of which turned out the same way.
I think there was a little morning steam/fog burning off the grass and trees in the background but I still dont see how that the foreground turned out this way.
It stumps me as i have never seen other images look this way or maybe i just have seen them. Maybe it was just slightly OOF
Cheers Neil
