baby ferns in the Rouge Valley (east Toronto), Ontario Canada. A bit of controversy with these: fiddleheads are popular food item, and I guess particularly with Chinese (or maybe they're just smart business opportunists, in Chinatown there are buckets of fiddleheads for sale) and in the past fiddleheads were overharvested. I remember a while ago there was some effort to reduce wild harvesting, but the story dropped from the news. Fiddleheads taste mildly bitter, maybe something like broccoli or rapini.

Interesting looking plant. Captured well as well.

I've heard of fiddleheads, on a BC fishing forum (a member wondering where to get them) but never seen them. I don't think that they grow out here.
