A series of nightshots north of the polar circle
Posted By: Larsenio, 07-03-2009, 02:20 PM

Hello again, it`s been a while since my last posting, and feel that it`s time to show you guys what summernights are like far up north.

I come from a small island called Andøya, (=duck island) which is as north as (69°17`N,16°01`E), i. e. 2 degrees north of the polar circle.

Which means we have midnight sun from may-late july. All day, bright

ANYWAY...

This first picture is taken straight towards the sun in may and shows the silhouette of my fiancee and she is carrying our now born daughter (4 days ago)

Exif:
1/15 sec shutter
f/13
ISO 100
38 mm focal length

The second picture is also taken in the middle of the night, this time in june. It shows the only tunnel around this area, taken from the middle of the road, inside the tunnel.

Exif:
1/90 sec shutter
f/9.5
ISO 100
55mm focal length

The third picture is from the same area and shows some kind of antenna system and is quite gigantic. It`s the only one in this series taken with my new lens, 55-300mm f4-5.8 and this is at full zoom on this one.

Exif:
1/180 sec shutter
f/6.7
ISO 100
300mm focal length

Good shots, enough so that you could use the insert image tags (third icon from the link icon) to insert your images.

That light is just amazing. Most of us living below the polar circles have to wait all day just to get that effect!

Edit: Oh that's weird, the OP post just had url tags, then automagicaly changed?

Well Ash, we got sun more than thre months a year. But those months, the sun doesn`t set. . And from late november-late january the sun is "gone"!

It`s fascinating...

Thank you so much! Maybe I`ll post some pics of my daughter soon, but I think I`m gonna need more portrait training first.
I`m not that good at it

Thanks anyway!
