Very cute little girl.

I've been experimenting with a technique in LR2 I picked up from somebody they used for a landscape; I'm attempting to apply it to select portraits. I took the liberty with your shot to demonstrate - pls do let me know if you want it removed.

I like it very much. Wish I had LR.

Sure, but you'll have to pay me a royalty for re-inventing it. LOL

It definitely works better with a RAW image to start with; I just used his attached JPEG here.

But, for this shot:
1. Reduced Clarity to -40.
2. Boosted Vibrance to +15.
3. Brightness to +35 (this will vary greatly shot to shot).
4. Contrast to +5.
5. Black level to +3.
6. With Adjustment Brush I used the "Wow - Eyes Sharpened" preset (edited to reduce its brightness to +35) to re-add some pop to her eyes after the clarity reduction.

I feel it's important to note that it is very easy to over do the affect. The Clarity slider is quite powerful once you travel left of zero.

I'm sure there is a more eloquent way of accomplishing the same thing in CS but I don't own it (yet).

And after bringing more 'pop' to this lovely capture, a B&W conversion while keeping the eyes in full colour would bring even more attention to them, just as a variation - the full colour one is beautiful. Very sweet.
