So glad I turned round
Posted By: Damn Brit, 07-07-2009, 08:06 PM

I was just getting in my car to go home when I saw this little planted area in front of a house. Bright colours make me smile and I just wanted to share these.

Those are nice colors - what are the flowers in the last photo? Aside from recognizing a corn field, I don't know one plant from another.

The third one is the best though I think they all lack contrast/levels adjustment.

First one has no definitive subject.

Hmm, nice display of in and out of focus elements, Gary! You know, although I broke my 50-200, I am sorely tempted to buy a regular 50 with F1.4. I guess I don't have to tell you, that searching for the right position of good foreground and background is work- albeit fun work for most of us.

Thank you Heinrich and Jorge, I'm glad you liked them. It's been hard to take pictures with the new baby around, she's always on my mind. I just have to take 'em when I get 'em.

Thanks Josh, FA 50 f/1.4. (I updated the thread starter with the info).

Thanks Frank and Jer.
The ones in the first two are Lantana. The last one is some kind of succulent.

Yeah I did make some adjustments but I ended up preferring the more muted look.

Well, you can't have everything all the time.
Thanks for your input, I look forward to returning the favour.

I played around with two of them, what do you think?

Thanks JMR, that shallow DOF can be fickle as you well know. As you say though, "It's fun".

when I saw that first one, I thought you had broke down a spent a bunch of money on a Helios 44M. Those look great for a FA at 1.4. Love those colors and OOF look.

I am glad you turned around too. I like em' just fine.
