Vintage Barbershop
Posted By: fletcherkane, 05-04-2007, 11:56 AM

Hey all,
Took my son to a vintage barbershop for a classic style haircut today. An old fashioned flat-top for the summer.
Took the camera of course. Most of the pictures have a "snapshot" quality to them.
However, this one goes in the "Classic" folder. This one is priceless.

You're right, Fletcherkane! That is a classic and one to keep for ever. Very well done!

I wouldn't touch a thing ... the expression is priceless, the background right and left are just what they should be. I think if you crop right you lose the flavor of the barbershop (i.e. it could be just any beauty parlor for that matter), and the left side shadow gives me the feel of the window I can't see. Did anyone notice the "Princess" model phone sold by ATT in the 70's (I still have one for power outages, they are powered from the telephone line). How about the business license. The primary focus of the picture is no doubt your son and the priceless expression. The rest of the picture paints another picture, and I think it is just as priceless.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The old men waiting for their haircuts that day were getting a real kick out of my son. He was in rare form that day.

I like it with the background too, but I would probably crop the left side off up to the clock...
