Birds & Bunnies
Posted By: little laker, 05-04-2007, 10:42 PM

I was in Kelowna, British Columbia again, and I took these pic's
The Bunnies. If I remember correctly I used the kit lens

And now for the birds.

Sigma 75/300

And these 2 are taken with my new, $100.00 brand new Phoenix F500mm lens

Before you judge the cheap lens let me tell you that the weather was lousy to say the least.
High winds, and a very overcast sky
If the weather is good over the weekend I'll have it out again and see if I can improve upon them.

Some nice shots. For a "cheap" lens I'm impressed with the bokeh!

Nice shots , I like the Phoenix shot was that hand held ? The bunny short makes me long for what everyone is calling 'spring' . A little late here this year ...(snowed last night aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah)

I'm sorry to hear about the weather there daacon.
We had a few days of lousy weather here, and I drove through some snow 2 days ago in the hills.

However today makes up for it here

All shots were hand held

The Phoenix lens isn't perfect. It's a screw mount and they include an adapter
As a result SR doesn't work.
But I think that it's a good value in general
f this weather sticks I'll do a review tomorrow night

Cute bunnies, Little Laker! Are they wild or pets?

The blue bird on the rail has an amazingly deep color of blue feathers. You did very well in capturing it. Do you know what kind of bird it is?

The osprey is fantastic, especially considering what lens you used. Let it be known that the cheap Phoenix lens does a stand-up job! Congratulations on your new lens.

Thanks Photo Mom

The rabbits are wild, although if you had a little food and a couple of hours you might be able to hand feed them.

I don't know what sort of bird that little guy is. I'll ask on another forum and see if someone can tell me. If they do tell me I'll post the name here

Littlelaker,

It is tough to see at these resolutions but the lens sparkles in one way...I can not see any obvious chromatic abberation or PF. That is a good thing!
It may be there but I don't see it in at these small image sizes. I think the image of the osprey is nice and the goose is not bad either.

The Sigma lens did a nice job too.

Good work.

Are you using a K10 or K100?

Still using the K100. I'm spending all my extra coin on lenses so I won't be able to upgrade to the K10 for a while

I guess that the best way to judge the image quality is to post a link to the full sized pic's
