Great shots you have there. I also enjoy shooting Boat Racing and Auto Racing.

Shutter crack is great while your shooting but then comes the job of sorting through all of them. I shot over 1800 shots at the Madison Regatta a couple of weeks ago. They can be viewed at:

Sweet shots Mike - really great panning shots. I am hoping that person I know and his buds will eventually rent the track in the coming months!!!

That rider's expression of victory is top shelf!!! Well done!

Marc

Wowsa Mike, impressive front cover stuff if I was an editor. I really like your vantage point for the first 2 shots and a third right after the crash and burn pic. Plus, what a great keeper in the expression you caught on that rider.

Vrrrrmmmm.......

Your images are fantastic, but the close-up ones of the riders are too tightly cropped and central in the image. Its fundamental that you should always leave room in front of the rider so that he has space to move into, so to speak.

Thanks Carl... yeah, SHE was ok, she did tell me the next day that her butt was black and blue.

Thanks Keith... Yeah, my shutter finger was darn near worn out though. LOL Btw, you do a really nice job on your Regatta racing. Those guys look tougher to pan on than the bikes (Note to self... Try to find a regatta to shoot)

Shhhhhh Gary! No one was supposed to noticed the hacked EXIF. Glad you liked em.

Thanks Rene. Yeah it was a victory lap and he noticed me shooting and decided to ham it up. He was in a turn and was paying so much attention to me that he damn near ran off the track. LOL

Thanks Marc. The panning shots are my favorites. They really show the speed. and the BIGMA is surprisingly easy to pan with...

Thanks Lee (and I wish you were an editor... LOL). The shots you mention were all taken from trackside, inside of turns (thanks to media access) so I can get fairly close and still be safe. The first two are at track level and the 3rd (the one after the crash photo) was taken from the embankment (about 6' above the track).

Yep JMR... Panned with the BIGMA at about 190mm, 1/180sec, f9.5 (photo of #910) and f13 (photo of #128) Most of my panning on these guys is done at between 1/180sec and 1/250sec.

Thanks John... Yeah, all SHE did was bruise her backside.
