Very nice! Is there a little bit of an orton effect going on also?

Thanks. Yes I did add a little gausian blur, but in comparing there is only a little difference with the original. With BW it is easier to submerge and blend effects.

Like it a lot, especially the carefully considered composition!

Praise from me too on this one.
Has the added personal touch with the couple on the water's edge.
Beautiful.

I'm really sold on this one, JMR. The two people huddled together, though not prominent, give the seen a wintry look that really works.

Thanks Georg. Not always easy. Mnay people just don't want their photos taken and I respect that.

Thanks Jer, that is an evocative description which I like very much. Being a sailor, I think you will like my next one, whcih I will add to this thread rather than create new one.

That first one is such a peaceful image. Photographs like that are a great place to conjure up when the stresses of life are assaulting you.

Just out of interest JMR, how far out of shot did the curve of the beach go, was there a reason you cut it off like that?

I wasn't concious of the curve in terms of capturing all of it, as I was more concerned with the composition and the rapidly changing light. I can see where you are headed but my lens is just not wide enough to capture the whole curve. It was only about 5mm wider to encompass the curve and still retain the tree. And a wider perspective would have also diminished the size of the people even more. But it is a good observation all the same. Thanks for the comments Gary.

You know, JMR, there's a theme here I really appreciate. These are all pictures of "big water" constrasted with a "tiny bit of humanity" somewhere in the frame. Maybe I'm over analyzing - but, again, I think it really works, my friend.

Maybe not, Jer. I really appreciate the comments. One is not always concious of patterns in one's life, so your thoughts and observations are something to ponder for sure.
