A Common Redshank

This was just rejected from the PPG, but I like it myself... do you think the background was too busy?

Nice sharp image of an interesting subject.
Bokeh's a little harsh, and the photo could probably do with some PP work (perhaps also some cropping), which would probably boost its potential to being accepted into PPG.

Georg, looks good to me. The bokeh is "different", but I get tired of the "creamy" bokeh look all of the time - nice to see something a bit more edgy.

the backround is a little distracting, but the subject is beautifully captured.....
perhaps a bit of soft focus outside the subject might be interesting....

Damn Brit

I like that kind of bokeh Georg but I know it's not for everyone. I think the OOF leaf in the foreground probably didn't help much. I like the pose that the bird is in as well.

The only part that I find a bit distracting is where the tail meets the branch and there's a bit of confusion. But hey, that's splitting hairs (feathers?) in a beautiful shot.

I think it's nicely done overall. I actually like the focus, background, and framing, but the fly in the ointment for me is the out of focus leaf in the foreground at the bottom right. I find that slightly distracting.

Georg. Birds are difficult to get excepted in PPG as there are so many and they are looking for the best of the best. I like the shot and like Gary, the greenery in the bottom right could have been a issue. Sharp photo and I like the framing of the bird. Well done. JIM

Pipe in on the OOF.... I like it. The green leaf in the foreground only distraction. Crop? But I don't know what... When i look at it I know if it was in Lr I would mess with it...

Lovely photo. The contrast is a tad high for me, but I'm not that concerned about the OOF background.

Hi Georg, that is a nice image and it is hard to tell why it got rejected. If it was the OOF background it is easily fixed with a little gaussian blur.

I don't worry about what gets in and what does not, if it gets in good, if not it's also good.

Wow, thanks a lot guys! It is always a pleasure to see ones own photos through other peoples eyes! I really begun to see this photo as it is as an image, not as I remember it was in nature... I have other shots of this redshank in PPG evaluation, let's see how the others do...

Anyway not to worry, I am quite accustomed to get photos rejected, I have enough images in, too to keep me happy
