Spring has been slow to arrive in these parts and I've never seen many birds in my small backyard that are very spectacular. Nevertheless I was looking for an excuse to go outside without a coat and when I saw what has been poking holes in my pine tree I went out for some photographic surveilance.

Looking around I saw this little guy in one of my spruce trees:
Then I saw this small beedy-eyed forager:
Finally I heard a bumblebee buzz by and turned the BIGMA on him:
