Santa Fe Triathalon: First Attempt with the Sigma 70-200mm II
Posted By: deadwolfbones, 07-18-2009, 01:32 PM

Just got this lens last week, and I'm trying to figure out if it'll suit my shooting needs and style. It's a heavy piece of glass, but I think I'm coming to terms with it.

These were all handheld--definitely learned a few tricks as I went along.

I have the same lens and it takes a little time to figure it out. DOF is the difficult part to master but after some shooting you get to know what will work or not. Nice first take.

Wow - I wish you'd teach me a few of the tricks you learned. These look great. My daughter and son-in-law are dedicated to marathons, duathalons and triathalons - I've never brought home images anything like as good as these.

The sun out here really helps, Jer (most of the time). Though I guess in Texas you guys have some pretty righteous sun of your own.

This Sigma is really one GREAT lens

Still, it needs a owner like you to produce such shots

Thanks for sharing

Might want to get a monopod for the 70-200mm. It does get tiring to hold after a while.

I'll take that under advisement, krypt. It certainly did my back no favors on the 6 hour hike I took it on yesterday. ;]

Pics coming from that hike, btw.
