Bartender Girl Photoshoot - Critiques Please
Posted By: Kemal, 05-06-2007, 08:49 PM

Here is a shoot I did a little while ago. I used my Pentax K10D with the kit lens and a 55 mm manual lens. Tell me what you think. I have more of this up on www.kemal.ca Online Art Gallery

I checked out your site - I think the strongest images are the ones with the last numbers: 134, 065, and 082, (which is the 2nd photo you posted above)

Those to me are the most interesting, I love the composition in 134, I love the pose in 065, and 082 is the best of the 3 you have above (in my opinion only!)

Do you think the 1st would have benefited from being shot in B & W?

Hi Kemal,

Nice work on your website. I spent a little time going through your photographs... you get out and shoot quite a bit. I particularly enjoyed the photographs of the abandoned prison and its graveyard.

I also took a look at the photographs from the bartender's shoot. I found 1, 3, 5 and 8 to be interesting in terms of subject placement, repetitive patterns in the background etc.

1 works very nicely in B&W... perhaps you could bump the contrast up a little. 3, 5 and 8 could use a little color correction, IMO.

Her expressions in the photographs suggest a few different moods/looks. Very "album cover" in the first few, somewhat enigmatic in 9, engaging and happy in 10.

All photographs seem a *tad* soft around the eyes. Are these photographs for ZED cards or for her model portfolios? If so, you might want to sharpen them up a bit.

All in all, nice work!

By placing the model agains walls or slumped in chairs, it makes her figure disappear or look a bit slouched...not really flattering. #1 and #3 have too much negative space around the woman. Also, in #3, the purse seems to be coming out of her stomach...
