Well, I'll have to be the first to say it, "I'll have to agree with you, those are indeed, some ugly critters!"

some things are better left unrecognized, I'd say.
Fine captures as usual, Mr Lohmann.

Thank you Frank, it's amazing what one discovers by looking into dark crevices.

Take care,

Thank you Mike for the kind words, sooner or later they'll get identified.

Take care,

Great macro shots Heinrich.

1+2. Look like a dragonfly larva skin (exuvium)

4. Looks a lot like an Alderfly to me

5. Is a Click Beetle of some sort

Whew, that first one is ugly for sure - looks like an alien. Photography is terrific, however.

Very aptly named thread Heinrich... Don't know what any of them are, but that is some seriously wierd looking spider in #3. Great photos and I admire guys like you who get down to the nitty gritty details of the natural world!

Thank you Jer, I think chirpy is right in that it is the empty larva skin of a dragonfly.

Take care,

Jer

Thank you Mike. I had never seen a spider like before neither, it looks tall on the picture but it was no more that 5, maybe 6mm in total. How big and what is it that he is feeding on?

I couldn't get around much on account of a bad knee so I started poking around in the darker crevasses of the various backyards we were visiting.

Take care,
