Horezu 3
Posted By: causey, 07-21-2009, 09:35 AM

I've greatly enjoyed pictures from around the world shared by the members of the Pentaxian community, so I thought I would let you see some from my neck of the woods. This is the last series with photos taken in the small Romanian town known for its pottery and traditional artwork. Tomorrow I'll start posting shots of three monasteries around Horezu: the Hurezi, Bistrita, and Arnota.

First, three Orthodox icons:
Saint Prophet Ilie, "the driver of Heaven’s chariot and patron of lightning, thunder and bolts" (celebrated here yesterday)

Saint Andrew

Saint Spiridon

Antiques, pottery, flowers

Fantastic set, indeed. It surprises me, but the first flower picture really stands out. It's a cool and unique composition that you don't see everyday.

Fantastic subjects--fantastic shooting! I have a Masters in Theology, so the religious iconography is invigorating for me. The helmut is intriguing as well. Also, having never been in Romania, these shots are a genuine treat!

Thank you, Ernest. If you find religious iconography invigorating, you'll like what I'm going to post tomorrow. The helmet is a Prussian WWI one--interesting for me to find it in an antiques store in a small town like Horezu.
