I did a lightning post a few pages back...

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/66431-lightning.html

I cheated and used a shutter release cord and bulb mode to leave the shutter open until the lightning struck. This worked because it was essentially pitch black outside, other than when the lightning struck. I think it depends a lot on your ambient light.

I prefer the first shot, the lightning is great and the sky is still dark. I like the lightning in the top right corner of the first shot.

hey guys,
thank you for your feedback.
i got this 3rd picture for you. but i think it is a bit to bright, and almost too much of this single lightning...

With too much lightning you'll have to expect this kind of clipped highlights.
But great captures nonetheless.

I think you both did great. I grew up with a lot of lightning storms and always loved it. where I live know we seldom see a lightning storm. I was down in Arizona about Two years ago and captured these, Lightning. Casa Grande, AZ

Keep up the good work and keep them coming.

Thanks,

John
