It's hummingbird time again
Posted By: Marc Langille, 07-21-2009, 05:17 PM

Well, Mike motivated me to dig through my last shoot and some previous ones to see what I could come up with! My apologies Mike, it was simply motivating me to get off my duff and find some more hummer images. I keep finding stuff... there are too many images on my external drives...

#1 and #3 were taken at F/6.3, 1/100 sec., ISO 640, EV -0.3 in heavily overcast skies at 420mm.

The others were at F/6.7, 1/500 sec., ISO 200...

Now for some feeder images - I rarely show these since I prefer in flight or perched shots:

Crop (close to 100%) for detail:

I think the K10D can still do quite nicely! I hope you enjoy them...

Regards,
Marc

As usual, Marc, beautiful shots.

That portrait shows a lot of personality - almost like a smile.

Cheers.

Words can't express how much I'm looking forward to attending one of your workshops in the future, Marc. I'm sure there are a tonne of images on your hard drives, but keep in mind that the more you post, the more you inspire a lot of people to aspire to the next level.

Please keep them coming.

Sssshhhh... I cannot divulge my secrets.

Thank you for looking and commenting! They are quite used to me moving around the feeders so they are even better when I am behind the camera...

Wow absolutely wonderful shots!

I did try some hummingbirds with the DA*300 at F4, ISO800 and 1/125 but most came out unsharp shakey looking, guess I need to use a tripod or faster speed next time around.

Wow. Great stuff Marc. I've got the same feeder but nothing to show for it.
