Azores islands
Posted By: Piotr, 07-23-2009, 05:46 AM

I spent 2 weeks on Pico, Sao Miguel and Faial islands. Nice islands, friendly people, good cheese, pineapples and white wine. Unfortunatelly not to many sunny days. I used my standard kit: K20D, *istDS, SMC 12-24, tamron 28-75 and Sigma 100-300. This time I added Voiglander 90 - just for fun.
Here some photos, more in my gallery Azores, July 2009 Photo Gallery by Piotr Sobolewski at Many thanks to Nuno (netuser) for his advices what to see and where to go.

Hi Piotr

Seems you had and your family had a great time and be glad you got some cloudy weather since it's better to images eheh Adds some mood to them!

Now we are getting sun sun and sun every day. Maybe you will come back for some other images on a diferent weather.

It's so pleasing to see how "outsiders" see and picture our islands.
Thanks for sharing your views.

You have great images on the gallery. You even found a Snowy Owl

If you don't mind two questions: what was your carrying bag ? and why did you use mainly matrix as metering mode ?

ha, I'm especially proud of this Snwy Owl - I had my Sigma 100-300 with me and not too many occasions to use it. And it was in my bag just for THIS moment. The shot is not very clear but anyway I like it.

My bag for last 5 years is standard Lowepro back pack.

I don't know, in the past i experimented with different setting but went to conclussion it does't matter. I prefer to check histogram and compensate time with +-EV.
BTW - my Half Gray filer was 90% on my pentax 12-24
