Yep the lens is a dud for sure. Send it back to the manufacturer, and while you are at it please see a doctor about that swollen arm !

I have something similar when I do self-portraits of me in my truck as reflected off the back of milk tankers in front of me.

Pat, I think it's the camera. You need to send your K10D to me for extensive testing, I promise that after a few months or so I will be able to figure out the problem and send it back to you.
