Stormy Sunset at the Airport
Posted By: heliphoto, 07-25-2009, 12:19 PM

The sun broke out under the ragged edge of the thunderstorm overhead yesterday evening...

A five shot pano of the fire rigs parked out in the sagebrush...
K-7 @ ISO 100, DA* 16-50 @ 16mm, f/4, 1/50th...

A SEAT plane (Single Engine Air Tanker)...
K-7 @ ISO 400, DA* 16-50 @ 39mm, f/8, 1/20th...

"My" helicopter (I don't own it by any means )...
K-7 @ ISO 250, DA* 16-50 @ 16mm, f/4, 1/25th..

Josh, that first one is heading right to PPG right! While done. Love shooting just after a storm. JIM

Thanks Jim - I'd have to say that storms are my favorite time to shoot (aside from keeping raindrops off my lens (filter)).

Love the pano - rarely do you get to see both end of a rainbow like that!

Very nice Josh especially the pano... Lots of "weather" shots showing up lately.

Thanks Ash - I've found it takes either a pano or a an ultra wide lens to get both ends of a rainbow in the frame (on the rare occasion you get to see a whole rainbow ).

Thanks Mike, it's been a weird year for weather here for sure.

Thanks Marc - after all this prodding I don't think I have much choice but to submit it to PPG ...

Thank you Andrew - some details on the Pano... it was shot hand held, and stitched with Hugin.
