Burano (Venice), Italy
Posted By: kjask, 11-07-2006, 09:10 AM

I promised this post to Patang from Sydney, who is going to visit Venice in January.

These photos from Burano are from February, 2006. It was really unusual warm and sunny winter's day. Burano is an island near Venice (it's about 30 minutes away with "vaporetto" - boat bus), with great colours and peacefull streets... Luckely most tourists who visits Venice don't know for this beauty place.

All photos were taken with Pentax *istDS, DA 18-55, with normal saturation settings (natural colours) and converted from raw with Silkypix.
Enjoy in colours I hope you will like some photos...

Kjask, I love those colours. It would seem that Febuary is the time of year to go - not many tourists!!

Nice stop-action/freeze with the boy and soccer ball.

I take it these were taken late afternoon as the sun was going down.
Thanks for showing these to everyone. Glad you kept your promise too - cause we got to see them.

Couldn't stay away from looking at these shots again, the shots are outstanding. And, I can't help but make a social note about modern technology and how it is ruining the architecture.

Notice the cable and telephone junction boxes, cabling and aerials - they're really "uglifying" beautiful facades. There are UNESCO World Heritage Sites being ruined by these items - if they can't bury them, the least they could do is paint over them.

Thank you guys!

This cables and boxes on facades are really ugly, but this is Italy, you haven't be surprised too much.. At least they have painted most of them in the same color as facades...

Patang, I wish you nice trip and good weather in January. Usually it is nice in winter time, it's only a wind from north that can make some problems.. I hope it woun't be windy Good luck!
