I got published.
Posted By: roscot, 05-08-2007, 05:09 PM

A few months ago, I entered a photo in The American Kennel Club Gazette magazine's photo contest. The theme was "Their favorite things". I just found out today that I got an honorable mention and was published in the Gazette and the AKC's other publication, Family Dog.

It may not be Pop Photo, or National Geographic, but I'm pleased none the less.

Here's the shot I entered.
Pentax *ist DS ,Pentax smc P-FA 35mm f/2 AL 1/50s f/8.0 at 35.0mm iso200
Off camera flash to the right, white reflector to the left.

Very, very nice, Alan. Nice relationship between the grays and the nicely centered color make for a great shot. And a very sweet dog to boot. What more could you ask for from a photographer. Congratulations on being published. Freddy

Lovely expression! Very nicely lit too. I am usually not a fan of selective desaturation but it works very well here considering the theme.

Congratulations on being published in not just one, but two publications. You should be very proud Is s/he going to get a special treat?

Thank you. Harry always gets special treats. He's a good boy. In fact he got a very special treat last week. He has been going blind for about a year due to cataracts, and just about totally blind for about 3 months (I touched up the eyes in the photo). Last Thursday he underwent cataract surgery. I am very pleased that he has his vision back.

So, no DA*s for me this year. My LBA money went for a different kind of lenses, and they are worth every penny.

In fact, I'm off to walk him. Everyone have a good night/morning/afternoon (where ever you are.)

Congratulations!!!

Hi Alan!

This is fantastic! I loved this image and was really waiting to hear how you'd done with it. You must be ecstatic!

Glad to hear the cataract treatment helped as well. I'll bet he's like a puppy again now that he can see!
